Why Is Ablakwa Still At Post? NPP GERMANY Dares Minister To Resign Over Rented Private Jets
The controversial arrival of Ghana’s Vice President Jane Naana from a sick leave in the UK in a private jet as against NDC criticisms of Akufo-Addo renting private jet and bathing in the sky simply stinks of hypocrisy and dishonesty.
In politics, hypocrisy often masquerades as principle — but even by that low standard, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s conduct is staggering in its shamelessness.
His continued presence in government following the Vice President’s private jet brouhaha is not only an insult to Ghanaians’ intelligence — it is an outright mockery of the very ideals he once claimed to champion.
Let’s not mince words: Ablakwa is a man who built his political brand on outrage. He wagged his moralizing finger at President Akufo-Addo’s administration for what he called “sky-high opulence” — most notably, their use of rented private jets.
He positioned himself as the self-appointed watchdog of government accountability, a crusader against wasteful spending.
And, he didn’t stop there — Ablakwa publicly declared, without hesitation, that should his party ever charter a private jet, he would resign immediately.
Well, here we are. Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang touched down in a private jet.
So where is the resignation?
Where is the man who once stood before microphones preaching virtue and fiscal restraint? Has he lost his voice? Has he misplaced his spine?
No. What he has lost — or perhaps never had — is integrity.
This is the textbook definition of political double standards. When the NPP government rented private jets, Ablakwa screamed scandals.
Now, with the NDC in the spotlight, he retreats into silence and self-preservation. That is not public service. That is cowardice wrapped in hypocrisy.
Let’s be crystal clear: you do not get to build a career on moral outrage, then plead convenience when your own camp is guilty of the very same sin.
You do not get to brandish resignation as a badge of honor, then cower behind your desk when it’s your own actions under scrutiny.
The NDC cannot pretend to hold the moral high ground when one of its most vocal “ethics enforcers” is busy breaking the very standards he set.
If the party had any true commitment to accountability, Ablakwa would be out the door by now — or forced through it.
But perhaps this is who he’s always been — not a principled reformer, but a congenital hypocrite dressed in populist rhetoric.
Posterity will remember. And if there’s any justice left in our politics, so will the people.
Resign, Hon. Ablakwa. You said you would.
Now prove you’re not just another political fraud who bathes in the skies of hypocrisy.
If Hon Ablakwa is indeed a human being with any moral compass, he should live up to his own words
Hon Ablakwa unequivocally stated that he would resign from any government position if his government allowed any government official to use a private jet under any circumstance.
In this instance, the Vice President did not merely utilize a private jet; rather, it was arranged by Hon Ablakwa.
Why is he still at post? We leave this here for the benefit of posterity.
God Bless Our Homeland Ghana!!!
Long Live Ghana, long live the Elephant Party!!!!
