The Assembly Member for the Abotanso Electoral Area in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District of the Eastern Region, Hon Ransford Edem Morglo, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of NPP Kwahu Afram Plains North Constituency Youth Organizer, outlining a campaign centred on youth empowerment, grassroots mobilisation, and year-round political engagement.
Speaking exclusively to AmaGhana Online, he said his ambition is driven by concerns about how young people are treated during and after elections, stressing the need for a shift in approach within the party’s youth structures.
“I’m inspired by watching young people being taken for granted during elections,” he stated, adding that “I want to change that with a youth wing that delivers jobs and respect year-round, not just during elections.”
According to him, the current political culture often limits youth engagement to election periods, a trend he believes must be reversed through structured and continuous involvement.
He emphasised that his decision to contest is rooted in his practical experience and close connection to the grassroots in the constituency.
“I stand out for my grassroots ties, familiarity with polling stations, and proven track record in community activities like clean-ups and voter drives, showing I follow through,” he said.
Hon Morglo noted that his community involvement has consistently focused on mobilisation and civic responsibility, particularly in ensuring voter education and environmental sanitation initiatives at the local level.
He further argued that effective youth leadership must be built on action rather than promises, insisting that credibility is earned through sustained engagement.
To strengthen coordination between the youth wing and polling station structures, he outlined a decentralised system he intends to introduce if elected.
“To strengthen youth and grassroots ties, I plan to assign active Youth coordinators at each polling station, create communication channels like WhatsApp and radio for updates,” he explained.
He added that regular engagement activities would be key to sustaining momentum and unity within the constituency’s youth base.
According to him, “I will organise monthly community service events to build trust,” stressing that consistent service to communities will help restore confidence in political leadership.
Addressing delegates and party youth directly, he delivered a message centred on accountability and continuity in leadership.
“My message to delegates and young members: Choose a Youth Organiser who will build with you, not just disappear after elections,” he stated.
He further emphasised his readiness for the role, saying, “I am committed, accessible, and ready to work for today’s leaders, not just tomorrow’s,” as he seeks to position himself as a bridge between party leadership and the grassroots youth base.
His declaration sets the stage for what is expected to be a competitive internal race within the constituency’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth structures in the Kwahu Afram Plains North area.
