Stand Firm
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. Exodus 14:13
God had visited His people and delivered them from centuries of slavery. Yet, as they journeyed toward freedom, the Egyptians pursued them, and they became terrified, fearing they would be overtaken and killed.
In that moment of crisis, Moses spoke words of faith that were more than suggestions – they were divine instructions.
The first command was, “Do not be afraid.” Fear grows when we focus on the threat rather than on God. Pharaoh had a mighty army, but God is greater than any army. We lose our peace and become overwhelmed when our attention is fixed on the problem instead of on the Lord. But when we focus on God, every challenge shrinks in size, significance, and power.
The second instruction was to “stand firm.” Moses was calling the Israelites to remain steadfast and hold their ground. Rather than panic or make impulsive decisions, they were to trust God’s promises and wait for His intervention.
The God who brought you out of bondage is also able to make a way for you through the sea before you. No situation is beyond His power.
Remain steadfast in your faith. Trust God’s promises, even when the way forward seems impossible. He is able to bring you safely through every trial.
Fear grows when we focus on the problem, but faith grows when we fix our eyes on God and His promises.
Choose today to trust God and experience His deliverance.
