The Founder and Executive Director of Missing Children Ghana, Regina Asamoah, has won another award for her hardwork in promoting and sustaining peace and harmorny as a journalist.

She was honoured by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) on the World Peace Day celebrated on Thursday, 21 September, 2023.

She was particularly acknowledged for her groundbreaking documentary series on missing children that has helped reunite over 200 missing children and adults with their families, Regina Asamoah continues to initiate projects that create economic opportunities for vulnerable women and families.

Regina Asamoah was among twenty-eight (28) other individuals who received the prestigious Africa Peace Advocate Awards (2023) for their dedication in promoting peace and well-being of people in their communities and beyond.

This honorary award brings to eight the number of recognitions received by the multiple award-winning Asamoah for her thought-provoking, life-changing and impactful journalistic works.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) 2019 Best Female Journalist has been influential in developing and facilitating policy-making projects related to gender activism and child protection.

In July 2023, Regina was nominated by the US Embassy Ghana to represent Ghana at the United States of America for the prestigious International Visitors Leadership Programme (IVLP) on Gender-Based Violence. Her nomination was for her commitment and dedication to gender and children advocacy efforts.

 With the conferment of the Africa Peace Advocate Award, Regina Asamoah is now recognised not just as a Gender Advocate but also as a Peace Advocate.

Speaking in an interview, Regina Asamoah was of the belief that it is not enough to talk about peace when our actions don’t preach violence.

She added that peace is a daily, weekly, and monthly process, promoting understanding and living in harmony with ourselves and people. Peace is a priceless jewel that no one or country should take for granted. Consciously, we need to promote peace with every action of ours.

She thanked the organizers for recognizing her works on missing children and others that continue to foster unity, peace and harmony in families.

Regina Asamoah is resolved to continue to engage and develop initiatives which help individuals and communities to enjoy peace and harmony.

About the Africa Peace Advocates Awards (2023)

The Africa Peace Advocate Awards by IAWPA acknowledges individuals who make exceptional contributions to promoting peace and harmony.

 It pays tribute to individuals who have effectively used their platforms to raise awareness, facilitate discussions, and inspire action towards unwavering peace.

The award also serves as an inspiring platform, encouraging all to engage in peace promotion within their communities and beyond.

The award ceremony formed part of this year’s celebration of the World Peace Day. The significant gathering was graced by dignitaries, including the President of the International World Peace Advocates – Liberia, Ambassador  Bishop Sammy David; Bishop SN Mensah, Full Gospel Church International; Bishop Sylvester Torto, Anglican Diocesan Bishop and Dr. Hassan Ayariga, Politician and Business Man.

The colourful event hosted by the UN Eminent Peace Ambassador to Ghana and General Overseer of Pottersville International Church, Bishop Sam Owusu,  was themed; “Action for Africa Peace”.

Addressing the gathering, he reminded the honorees that the award is to spur them on to continue to use their platforms to advocate peace, development and progress for the African Continent.

“We are not just going to honour you with awards. It’s for work. We need you. Ghana needs you. Africa needs you. We need you to use your platforms to speak to bring about change, peace and development”.
