Dignitaries present at the handing over ceremony
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has donated high-quality medical equipment to the Wusuta Health Center in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.
The support, aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the community, marks an important step in improving the capacity of the health center to serve the community.
Some of the items included, state-of-the-art laboratory instruments such as microscopes, centrifuges, water bath, drying racks and comprehensive testing kits among others.
These tools will empower the health centre to perform a broader array of medical tests, ranging from basic blood work to advanced pathological analyses, ultimately leading to more accurate diagnoses and timely treatment.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Church’s District President Benjamin Ofori, expressed the Church’s commitment to supporting communities in their pursuit of better healthcare.
He stressed the importance of quality health as the basis to serving the Lord very well.
“When you are in the service of your fellow men then you are in the service of God which is then the reason for our swift response to helping the community with this equipment.
The spirit needs human beings to dwell in so that they can work, therefore if they are healthy, then can they serve the Lord better,” he said.
He added that: “This donation is a reflection of our deep belief in serving and uplifting communities. It is our hope that these medical tools will go a long way in improving the quality of care delivered here at Wusuta Health Center and help save many lives.”
The donation was warmly received by the community and health authorities.
The paramount chief of the Wusuta Traditional Area, Togbe Osietutu Brempong III expressed profound gratitude for the Church’s generous contribution and assured that they would collaborate to implement appropriate security measures to safeguard the equipment from potential theft.

“This contribution by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will significantly enhance the healthcare delivery in our community because most of the health facilities do not have these kind of equipment’s. We will put together security for the center so that they can secure the environment as well,” he said.
The Regional Medical Laboratory Scientist, Reverend Dr. Charles Agede, in a speech delivered on behalf of the Regional Director of Health Service, praised the initiative and noted that this falls in line with the health directorates mission to equipping health facilities in the region and improving general health being.
The district health director, David Tekpor-Owusu, said the new laboratory capabilities would greatly assist the health centre in expanding its diagnostic range.
He added that this enhancement would also alleviate financial burdens for community members who previously had to seek diagnostic services elsewhere.
“We believe this will go a long way in helping us provide better healthcare and save costs for our community members,” Mr. Tekpor-Owusu remarked.
Following the handover ceremony, the medical equipment was unpacked and installed in the health center’s laboratory.
Attendees, including community leaders, health officials, and church representatives, were given a tour of the upgraded facility, demonstrating how the new equipment will enhance the center’s ability to provide advanced healthcare services to the community.
The Wusuta Health Center, with its enhanced capacity, is now better positioned to meet the health needs of the people in the North Dayi District, Mr. Tekpor-Owusu further noted.
