The Paramount Queen Mother of Denyase, Nana Anima Antwi Konama II, has announced her vision to establish a breast care unit within the Denyase Traditional Council area to support access to breast health services beyond annual awareness campaigns.
She outlined the ambition during a free breast screening and health education exercise held at Denyaseman Senior High School on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The outreach brought together schoolgirls and women from the surrounding community for screening and education on breast health.
Speaking at the event, Nana Anima Antwi Konama II emphasised that the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month should not mark the end of public education and attention to breast care.
“October is ending, but breast care continues,” she said.
She explained that her vision for a dedicated breast care unit formed part of a broader commitment to improving healthcare access across her traditional area. She also pledged to facilitate efforts to secure modern healthcare centres for communities within the area.
The proposed unit, she indicated, would help sustain attention to breast health throughout the year, extending the purpose of the screening exercise beyond a single occasion.
Schoolgirls were screened during the outreach, while many women from the community also attended to have their breasts examined. The exercise provided an opportunity to bring breast health education and screening closer to both students and community members.
As part of her support for the girls, the Queen Mother donated sanitary pads and toothbrushes, extending the outreach to include menstrual and oral hygiene needs.
The occasion was attended by several sub-chiefs and queen mothers from across the traditional area, demonstrating traditional leadership’s support for the initiative.
The outreach reflects Nana Anima Antwi Konama II’s commitment to placing the health and welfare of girls and women at the centre of her community development efforts, with a stated ambition to translate periodic screening into lasting access to care.
