A delegation of the St. Augustine’s Past Students Union (APSU), today visited the residence of Mr. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, a member of APSU, class of 1961, to condole with him, following the passing of his dear wife of 54 years, Auntie Comfort, on August 25.

The delegation was led by Dr. Ernest Anthony Osei, the APSU Global President.

Other members of the delegation include, Eric Atta-Sonno, APSU National Secretary, Kobby Asmah, Editor of the Daily Graphic, Prof. Kofi Abotsi, Dean of the UPSA Law School and Dr Kwame Amponsa-Achiano, Programme Manager for the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) at the Ghana Health Service.

Also present, were Emmanuel Joe Ampiah, APSU Porter, Samuel Annang, Convener for APSU ‘98 host year group for the next speech day, his finance committee member Ebenezer Oppong-Mensah and Peter Martey Agbeko, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Standards Authority, a member of APSU ‘80.

Mr Owusu-Agyemang, a member of APSU class of 1961, is a very dedicated Apsunian, who has over the years contributed immensely (financially and in other diverse ways) to the development of his Alma mater.

According to a Ghanaian Times Online report, the late Mrs Owusu-Agyemang who passed away on Thursday, August 25, was the Managing Director of Maagrace Garment Industries Limited, an apparel manufacturing company based in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

It specialised in the production of fleece, sweats, uniforms, nightwear and shirts to the United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK) and Europe.

She left behind five children.

Mr Owusu Agyeamang is an agriculturalist, who worked with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy for many years.

He is a also former member of Parliament for New Juabeng North constituency, and a former Minister of Water, Works, and Housing, and a Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Currently, he serves as the Chairman Council of Elders, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His love for Augusco is phenomenal, and he’s on record to always attribute his success in life to the good quality of education he obtained at Augusco.

Against this backdrop, the APSU President, has pledged the union’s full support and participation in the funeral and related activities.

In the coming days, the funeral arrangements for his dear wife will be made public, but is known for now is that next there will be a one-week observance.
