Ghanaian musician Kwame Yogot has revealed that a potential deal with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to use his song for their campaign fell through after his former manager demanded ¢1,000,000 for the use of one of his song, despite an agreement with NPP executives led by Nana Akomeah to pay ¢500,000.

The musician explained that the NPP had offered half a million cedis, but his ex-management’s higher demand caused the negotiations to collapse.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM with Abeiku Santana, Monitored by Journalist and Boogger Attractive Mustapha , Kwame Yogot stated, “We met three times with NPP members led by Nana Akomeah, and we agreed on them paying ¢500,000, but my ex-management requested ¢1,000,000, and that’s why the deal didn’t go through.”

He further explained that the discrepancy in the agreed amount led to the collapse of the negotiations.

Last year, in 2023, Kwame Yogot publicly called out Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, now the presidential candidate of the ruling NPP, for using his music in political campaigns without prior consent.

According to Kwame Yogot, the Vice President had adopted “Biibi Be Si,” which was played at every campaign event he attended.

Sources indicate that this issue prompted top NPP members, including Nana Akomeah, to engage in discussions with Kwame Yogot and his management team.

After a series of meetings, the musician initially agreed to the NPP’s offer of ¢500,000. However, his former management later changed their stance and demanded ¢1,000,000, causing the negotiations to fall apart.
