On Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Elwak Sports Stadium in Accra was transformed into a vibrant mosaic of faith, fellowship, fitness, and enterprise as the Catholic Professional Guilds (CPG) hosted their eagerly anticipated May Day Games & Business Fair. Against a backdrop of blue skies and buoyant spirits, the event brought together Catholic professionals from all walks of life in a jubilant celebration of faith in action, business with impact, and play with purpose.
From as early as 7:00 am, the atmosphere was electric. The day kicked off with an energising activity of informal networking, followed by a medley of fun games and team challenges that set pulses racing and sparked waves of laughter. With friendly competition and collaboration in full swing, the event perfectly captured the CPG’s vision: uniting professionals through shared values, dynamic networking, and wholesome recreation.
One of the stars of the day was the CPG Business Fair—a showcase of creativity, innovation, and enterprise. Stands brimmed with exciting products and services, offering everything from wellness solutions to artisanal grooming products. This year’s fair was not just about business—it was about purposeful entrepreneurship anchored in Catholic values.
Among the standout moments was a chance encounter with my good friend, Richard Akpokavie, the newly elected President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC). As Chair of the Planning Committee for the May Day Fun Games & Business Fair, his leadership helped orchestrate the day’s resounding success. His presence highlighted the strong intersection of faith, leadership, and national development.
At the fair, I also had the pleasure of visiting the stand of Ruth Brako, dynamic CEO of Soul & Beauty by Faith. Her impressive product line—available at the Faith Bookshop, St. James, Osu—drew attention for its thoughtful curation and natural beauty ethos. It was also a joy to reconnect with my year group mate, Dolores Opon (HOPSA ’80), who was showcasing her impressive range of All Natural Men’s Grooming Products. Her offerings—like theKasai Head Shaving Oil Luxury Blend, Saha Beard Grooming Oil, and Yiko Beard Shaving Oil—promised not only luxury grooming experiences but also skin health benefits, crafted with a deep understanding of natural healing oils.
Another highlight was meeting my professional colleague and CAMP-G member, Rosemary Gaisie, who attended with a friend. Their warm camaraderie was a reminder of the strong professional and spiritual bonds that continue to deepen within the CPG network.
The success of the 2025 edition was made possible thanks to generous partners like Dalex Finance and the enduring support of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, who continue to champion the vision of a strong, purpose-driven professional Catholic community.
With hundreds in attendance, laughter echoing across the stadium, business cards exchanged, and friendships rekindled, the CPG May Day Games & Business Fair 2025 was more than an event—it was a statement of intent. A celebration of life, values, and excellence. A reminder that as Catholic professionals, we are called not only to work and worship, but to thrive, connect, and uplift.
Here’s to more moments like these. Here’s to purpose-driven joy.
