Accra, Ghana – October 4, 2025 – Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, a senior figure in Ghana’s trade and foreign affairs initiatives, departed Accra yesterday 3rd October 2025,for the United States to participate in a series of high-level meetings aimed at addressing the recent customs tariffs imposed by Washington on Ghanaian goods.

The meetings are scheduled to take place in Washington D.C. and New York will bring together the U.S. government officials, trade representatives, and key business leaders.

Brigadier General Annan’s visit underscores Ghana’s strategic commitment to diplomacy, economic resilience, and international cooperation in the face of shifting global trade dynamics.

Central to the discussions will be the impact of the new tariffs on Ghana’s exports—particularly agricultural products, textiles, and manufactured goods—as well as broader issues relating to bilateral trade, investment opportunities, and foreign commerce between the two nations.

Speaking ahead of his departure, Brigadier General Annan stressed the importance of dialogue and collaboration in resolving trade challenges:

“Ghana remains committed to strengthening its trade relations with the United States. These meetings provide a vital opportunity to ensure that our commercial ties continue to grow in a fair and mutually beneficial manner while addressing the challenges posed by new tariff structures,” he stated.

In addition to addressing tariff concerns, the delegation will also explore new avenues for economic cooperation, including technology transfer, industrial development, and partnerships in infrastructure and energy. 

Discussions are expected to emphasize the creation of sustainable frameworks that not only expand trade but also promote inclusive growth, job creation, and long-term investment between Ghana and the United States.
